JOSEPH YOURONG CAI

Joseph Cai is an 8-year-old boy and was born in Hong Kong. He was admitted into the Junior Program of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) at age 5 and is practicing piano under the tutelage of Prof. Gabriel Kwok and Dr. Felix Chang Tao.

Joseph got Distinction in the ATCL exam when he was 7 years old, and he was the winner of numerous competitions, for example:

As a piano soloist, Joseph has performed in local and global venues including the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Vienna, Mozart Haus Vienna, Van Cliburn Concert Hall TCU in the US, Solitar Uni Mozarteum in Salzburg, Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall, and Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall.

Joseph gave his concerto debut at age 6. During the past two years, he has performed with the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of the United Kingdom, and the Symphony Orchestra of Zabrze Philharmonic in Poland.

He gave his debuts in performing the complete Mozart concertos K414 and K271 in 2024, and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, Op. 15 in 2025.

Over the past few years, Joseph has received masterclasses from distinguished pianists including: Arie Vardi, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydron, Ewa Poblocka, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Pavel Gililov, Kevin Kenner, James Anagnoson, Natalia Trull, Pascal Roge, Wei Danwen, Tang Zhe, Meng-Chieh Liu, and Sa Chen.

Joseph also plays the cello and composes his own pieces. Beyond music, he enjoys ice skating, swimming, reading, and traveling.
