VASSA ATANASOVA
Vassa Atanasova was born on February 2, 2009, in Sofia, Bulgaria. She began her musical education with piano lessons in 2015, currently studying under Dr. Nona Krincheva. Since 2017, she has also been studying the harp with Irina Parvanova.
In 2021, she enrolled at the National High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences “Academician Lyubomir Chakalov” in Sofia, where she follows a Physics and Mathematics profile.
Vassa is a piano scholarship holder of Prof. Ludmil Angelov at New Bulgarian University in Sofia. She has participated in twelve national and international piano competitions, becoming a laureate of nine first prizes and five special awards.
In 2022, she received the “Vincenzo Scaramuzza” Award from the Centro Internationale Studi Musicali, which included a solo recital in Porto Torres, Italy, held in September that year.
In 2023, she was awarded the Grand Prix of the Vivapiano International Piano Competition in Sofia. That same year, she became a finalist in the international competition “Playing with Orchestra,” organized by the Centro Internationale Musicali in Italy, and received a special prize from the “Prof. Ljuba Encheva” Foundation at the International Liszt-Bartók Piano Competition, organized by the Liszt Institute in Sofia.
In 2024, Vassa received awards at the Vienna Piano Competition and the Munich Piano Competition, where she was honored with the “Klaus Schilde” Prize. She also advanced to the final round of the 31st International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Szafarnia.
In addition to her piano studies, Vassa is pursuing music theory, composition, and orchestration at New Bulgarian University. She accompanies the Choir for Ancient Music of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and composes her own music.
