SHING YAU YU

14-year-old Shing Yau Yu was born in Hong Kong and moved to Australia in 2023. He studies piano under renowned pedagogue Glenn Riddle. In May 2024, he made his concerto debut, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major with the Dandenong Ranges Symphony Orchestra conducted by Carlos del Cueto. Earlier that year, he also gave his recital debut at the Austral Salon, followed by a second recital at St. Paul’s Cathedral Melbourne. Shing Yau’s upcoming performances include recitals at St. Paul’s Cathedral Melbourne and The Scots’ Church in 2025. In 2023, he won 2nd place in the PolMusicA National Piano Competition. He was also a semi-finalist in the 2024 Young Lev-Vlassenko Piano Competition, one of Australia’s most prestigious piano competitions for young musicians. He is currently preparing for his AMEB LMusA exam.
